COVOD update for Giving Tuesday

Here’s an urgent appeal from Pastor Baamu Moses, Pastor of 12 churches and Mayor of 5,000 families in a District near Jinja, Uganda, in his own words:

“Thanks for your prayers, brother Michael, and for your godly heart. It is now four weeks since churches were closed. We are in lock down, expecting the worse.

“Over 5,000 homes are suffering in my area of jurisdiction. 85 percent of the people here are working and living hand to mouth. They are sleeping by taking only a cup of porridge. Some people are stealing food from other people’s gardens. The major need right now is food and soap. The government is trying to educate citizens on radios.

“Our Hope Tailoring School can sew masks for about $1 each. We want to distribute five masks per home. [That’s $5 per home x 5000 to stay safe.]. We also want to distribute family food boxes with 5kg of posho, 2kg of beans, plus 1 bar of soap. [Each COVID Care Box will cost about $20 for food staples and five masks]. How many of the 5,000 families is AHF able to provide?

Additionally, “TRANSPORT to and from the distribution center to the sites will cost about $500 US dollars.

We are ever remembering you in our prayers in our home devotions during in this Crisis according to 2 Chronicles 7:13-15

Shalom,

COVID CARE 2020, our Giving Tuesday Spring campaign, urgently seeks cash donations to help our front line ministry partners in Malawi and Uganda, purchase soap and sanitizers, make face masks, distribute emergency food, in order to cope with the coronavirus in their midst.

WorldHope Corps sponsors two Hope Tailoring Schools in Malawi and Uganda, ready to make face masks if they can buy material, pay the instructor, and support a new class of young women learning to be tailors.

We want to add the face masks to a COVID Care Kit containing a family wash bucket, protective gloves, and some emergency food items for distribution during the lockdown and food shortages. Each COVID Care Kit costs between $15-20, depending on the addition of food and transport.

Listen to what our partners say is needed right now, in their own words, and make the best donation you can to www.WorldHopeCorps.org

From Pastor Baamu Moses in Uganda:

“Thanks for your prayers, brother Michael, and for your godly heart. It is now three weeks since churches were closed. We are in lock down, expecting the worst.

We are praying Psalm 91 in this trying moment:

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge…

“Over 5,000 homes are suffering in my area of jurisdiction. 85 percent of the people here are working and living hand to mouth. They are sleeping by taking only a cup of porridge. Some people are stealing food from other people’s gardens. The major need right now is food and soap. The government is trying to educate citizens on radios.

“Our Hope Tailoring School can sew masks for about $1 each. We want to distribute five masks per home. [That’s $5 per home to stay safe.]. We also want to distribute family food boxes with 5kg of potatoes, 2kg of beans, plus 1 bar of soap. [Each COVID Care Box will cost about $20 for food staples, soaps and five masks]

“TRANSPORT to and from the store to the sites will cost about $500 US dollars.

"May the good Lord God bless you as you stand to be his spokesman for his people. We are ever remembering you in our prayers in our home devotions during in this Crisis according to 2 Chronicles 7:13-15."

Shalom,
