Pastor Moses dances with orphans in his care

Dear Friends of Shalom and WorldHope Corps:

I plan to travel to Uganda in January to conduct Shalom Training with Pastor Moses and Brother Julius (both regional Shalom Trainers).  I will also visit St George Hope Health Centre in Hoima (Western Uganda) which WorldHope Corps supports.   As a friend or donor to WorldHope Corps, would you be interested in joining this mission/service project trip (Jan 5-17, 2014)?

So far, at least seven of us have decided to go, but there’s still room for a few more.

Departure day from SFO is Sunday, January 5.  Arriving in Kampala Monday afternoon, Jan. 6.  Returning to SFO on Fri/Sat Jan17/18.

The primary purpose of the trip is to respond to requests to conduct Shalom Training in Jinja, Uganda (source of the Nile) and Hoima region (near Bwindi game park).  We will also visit shalom sites and WorldHope Corps projects, nurture international friendship, learn about sustainable community development in rural Uganda, and see some interesting sites in Uganda.

Cost for the international ticket on Emirates Airlilnes (with an overnight layover in Dubai) currently is $1,700.  Turkish Airlines or Kenya Air or Luftansa may have a flight slightly less expensive, but the Sunday afternoon (after church) departure on Emirates is the only one that works for me.  You’re free to take a different flight or airline, as long as we all arrive in Kampala on the same day (Monday, Jan 6).

In-Country costs are calculated at $100/day to cover accommodations (double occupancy in Lodge/hotel), meals, and local transport (14-passenger minivan, fuel, driver, host).   Total in-country cost will be $1200.  Plus a $300 charitable donation and deposit fee to WorldHope Corps (trip facilitator) as a contribution to the ministries of our local hosts in Uganda.  Since this is a mission/service trip, the entire expense of the trip–approx $3,300–may be tax deductible.

Let me know if you are interested and I’ll send you a preliminary itinerary.  Deposit is needed right away in order to reserve rooms and van.  You can purchase your ticket at any time, but the sooner the better for best fares.

Please call or email me with any questions.  973 714-0023

Shalom to you, my friends!
